Wendigo in The Forest

Painting of a Wendigo using my old 2D horror style. My old style focused on jagged line work, overemphasis on hand and finger size, a combination of soft and hard shade lines with red hues painted in the shades. Instead of just painting the character on a grey background I decided to paint them in a scene which allowed me to explore more interesting camera angles and ambient shading.

Basic line work of the wendigo without the trees in the background.

Basic colours quickly applied to the painting. I was playing with hue and saturation on the trees and wendigo trying to get colours that fit together better, these were the two I had to decide between.

Wendigo Painting Complete - Wanted to paint a cold, snowy forest with the light coming from the back of the wendigo. Lost some detail with the shading but I wanted it to be very dark and imposing.
