2D Character Designs

Some character concept art created for a game we developed in the Game Design Masters course at university. The characters were broken down into pieces for animation purposes with individual sprites for the hands, body, head and feet. Unfortunately some of the images have been lost to time but if I can recover them I will update this project.

Initial design ideas using silhouettes to get an idea of shape, scale and design. Used a white brush to paint in some basic ideas for the key features of the design.

The first mock up of the main character. This was a character designed for a side scroller created during my time in the Game Development Masters course. I painted over the original silhouette and fixed some proportions and added smaller details.

The design was changed to a grey colour later on in the games production. Animation was done using the puppet tool in Illustrator so its body had to be divided into pieces for the animation process.
